The little bud in my garden turned into a beautiful iris. Unfortunately we only got to enjoy it for a few days because the rain killed it. We do have a bunch of sprouts in the flower garden, though, so hopefully we'll have more flowers to enjoy soon! I still have to plant the sunflowers, hopefully this week.
Iris inherited from previous owners
I also have quite a few sprouts in my indoor herb garden I started.
I can't forget these guys. Wednesday can be such a monster.

The past several days I have been working on digging out a portion of the yard for my small flower garden. Next year I would love to plant vegetables, but for right now I am going to start small. There is already a bit of ground sectioned off with small bricks that is the perfect size. I turned up the dirt and weeded, and planted some wildflowers so far. I also got sunflowers and blue bonnets, and other flowers to plant hopefully this week.
Here is my little bit of flower patch planted and waiting for sprouts.
While I was watering my seeds, I noticed a bud. There were these strange looking leaves to the left of the AC unit (to the right is my garden) which my mom thought might sprout flowers. Since we did not move in to the house until September, I wasn't sure. But, I found a bud! I believe it might turn into an iris, but we'll see. Out of the three bunches back there, only one bud. That's good enough for me since we inherited this pretty from the previous owners.
I am going to keep a close watch on this one.

I finally finished the three gazing balls I was working on. They are bowling balls covered with flat marbles. The stands are simply pillar candle holders, the two taller ones are from the thrift store, and the smaller one is from a yard sale. Total cost of materials (bowling balls, stands, glue, marbles)- under $20 to make all three of these. I just love them! They are pictured on my fireplace because I haven't decided where to put them in the yard yet. The purple one is a purple marble ball covered with small clear marbles, the red is covered with bigger clear marbles, and a blue bowling ball with dark blue marbles.
And here is a video of the pupsplaying destroying newspaper.

Small Project
Just a small home improvement project. One of my favorite places, The Container Store was having a sale so I decided it was time to do something about what has become a junk drawer in my kitchen. I store all of my kitchen utensils in a drawer because I think leaving them out on the counter gets them dusty and with all the cat hair that flies around my house, they are safer in the drawer. However, my drawer started to look like this:
Kindof embarrasing to open when you have a guest over and you have to sort through this mess to find a pair of tangled tongs.
At The Container Store, I picked up the Expand-a-Drawer Cutlery Tray and the Expand-a-Drawer Utensil Tray. They fit my space perfectly! Since they are expandable, there is a piece on either side of the tray that pulls out to fit the drawer. The cutlery tray was perfect for storing all the smaller stuff that seems to get lost, like the meat thermometer and vegetable peeler.
Here is my end result. It makes me very happy to see everything so neat and organized when I open this drawer!
All nice and neat.
I also picked up a drawer organizer for my spices while at The Container Store. I had been looking for one at Ikea, but for the life of me I could not find the Rationell in the store. Instead I got The Container Stores version.
I think it works very nicely in the drawer next to the stove.

First Post
What do you say in your first post in a new blog? I’d like to introduce myself instead of diving right into anything.
I’m 22. I’m engaged. I have two cats, two dogs, two turtles, and a tarantula. I work full time as a Networking Analyst in Dallas, TX.
I recently bought a house and I love crafting and I love my pets. That is what this blog is going to be about. Here I will try to post photos of my ongoing projects - their conception, their progress, and their result. At the worst this will serve as an ongoing memorial to the projects at the back of the queue.
So let’s meet the family.

Dexter and Wednesday are the latest additions to our family. They are dachshund pups born on Halloween of 08 and we’ve had them since they were 5 weeks old.
